Walter enjoyed a life of learning through reading, painting, the wonderful outdoors, walking, boating, fishing, camping and travel.
Walter was a caring, introspective man with a heart for God. We add a poem written by Walter.
“The Last Day of Summer: Knowing the Season of my time”
Tonight, as daylight faded toward dusk,
I walked our road and sortied through the wood.
Emerging at the rain-fresh pasture by the lake,
where I surprised a white-tailed doe which stood,
wary of me.

Tonight, as twilight came to terms with dark,
the sodden grass soaked slowly through my boots;
And overhead, between the scudding clouds of grey,
the south-bound geese winged by with honks and hoots;
heedless of me.

Tonight, as summer yields to colder fall
I cannot help but see that creatures everywhere
behave in close conformity to nature’s ancient pulse.
And I? Am I aware of my creator’s plan and loving care
ordained for me?

Tonight as darkness reigned a little while
a golden moon rose slowly o’er the tree-lined shore
casting a pathway on the darkened waves,
a portent of abundant light to come, and more
Instore for me.

Tonight as I commend myself to God
and consciousness gives in to blessed sleep,
I feel content and thankful and at peace,
secure in knowing whom to trust, for God will keep
watch over me.

Walter, may you be greeted with “Well done thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee a ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” Matthew 25:21 NKJ

Thank you Walter for all you did and who you were. Rest in Peace.
