Obituary for Ivy Bernice Mason (Baker)

Mason (nee Baker)
Ivy Bernice
July 16, 1926 - March 4, 2023

Ivy was born at home July 16, 1926 to her parents William R. and Lily Rose Baker who were residents of Long Branch (now Toronto) Ontario. Pre-deceased by her parents, her eight siblings and her beloved husband of 53 years until his passing in 2010, Ralph Allen Mason. Ivy is survived by her two daughters Diane Boehme (Andrew) and Donna Mutch (Peter). Ivy’s life was one filled with laughter, family and deep abiding friendships. After her marriage to Ralph, Ivy lived in numerous places throughout Ontario including Prince Edward County, Belleville, Foxboro, Goderich, Uxbridge and Carleton Place. Wherever she went Ivy’s outgoing, fun-loving spirit, her warmth, generosity and sense of humour meant she made friends everywhere. She was a gourmet cook, an avid gardener, an ardent craft maker and an expert knitter. Her many sweaters, shawls and afghans will be keeping friends and family warm for generations. She loved her ice cold martinis, music, Christmas, comfy slippers, animals, and life itself. She was blessed to share her life with too many furry friends to mention, all of whom were waiting for her on the other side of the rainbow bridge. She passed peacefully into Grace on March 4, 2023 and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Diane and Donna are deeply grateful to her many caregivers over the last few years with special mention to Caroline, Marilyn and her medical team of doctors who were always there for her. Special thanks as well to Drew, Susan, and the exceptional staff at Riverview Seniors’ Residence in Carleton Place for providing a welcoming and caring home for her for the last few years. Cremation has already taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. As an expression of your sympathy, donations to your local animal shelter or animal rescue society would be greatly appreciated.
