Obituary for Glyndwr Luther "Glyn" Newsham

Glyndwr Luther Newsham
March 25, 1940 - January 15, 2023
Surrounded by his family, Glyndwr Luther Newsham went to be with his Lord on Sunday,
January 15, 2023, at the age of 82. Glyn has bid farewell, for now, to his wife Sue and his three
children Heather (Keith), Greg (Taryn), and Doug; his grandchildren Connor, Cameron, Evan,
Aurora, and Abra; his siblings Miar (John), Elgar (Phyllis), Ivor (Ruth), and Don. He was a
cherished brother-in-law to Ted (Sharon), Tony (Sandi), Donald, Beth (Darrell), Bonnie (Gleycia).
He was also loved by his Uncle Curt, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Glyn was
predeceased by his parents, a sister, his mother and father-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
When Glyn was diagnosed with colon cancer in late November, it was determined that surgery
would be the best course of treatment. Glyn was confident in this choice. That surgery took
place on January 9. While the surgery was initially successful, complications developed that
took his life the following Sunday.
Glyn spent his life serving others. From his early work in Cambridge Bay as a radio operator, to
his decades in the parts department at Brantford Truck, Glyn was personable, generous with his
time, ensuring the best solutions for all. Glyn served his community through volunteering for the
Alziehmers society, and working in the local non-profit thrift store. Glyn lived his commitment to
God through service to his church. He served on boards both at the local and district level, and
spent countless hours working to maintain the building. Throughout his life, family was his
priority. He delighted to spend time with his grandchildren. Glyn also loved to travel. The
majority of his trips were spent visiting with family and friends. Glyn’s priority was to be with the
people he loved. Glyn lived a full life, serving His Lord and loving his family and friends. He was
a blessing and will forever be in our hearts.
A funeral will take place at C.R. Gambles Funeral Home in Almonte, on January 23 at 2pm.
Visitation will begin at 1pm.
